2004 This year the theme was "Environment Protection and Care". Sri Sri Shivapuri Mahaswami of the Omkar Mutt was the Chief guest. Sri Suresh Heblikar, renowned Film Actor / Producer and Environmentalist was the Key note speaker. Environmentalists from various organizations such as Green Foundation, Little Eco Friends and many more had gathered to address issues such as Water Conservation, Avoiding Usage of Plastics, Using and Promoting Organically grown Food, Using Original seeds instead of Hybrid seeds for Organic farming etc. They were all there... Environmentalists, housewives, professionals, businessmen, students and the Sevaks gathered at the town hall last weekend to celebrate World Family Day. The day started with invocation and Elocution competition between children of various schools of the city. The day was filled with fun and frolic. A septuagenarian performed the Ganesha dance with all its divine appeal. The humorist Y.M.N. Murthy had the audience in peals of laughter. There was also a Bharatanatya performance and a ballet on environment protection Children from little Eco friends Spoke About how they were creating environment consciousness in society. But the most touching performance came from epileptic children of fame India who danced to Michael Jackson's "Heal the World". The Environmentalists from various organizations were felicitated for their excellent work to save nature for the present and future generations. In his Keynote address, Sri Suresh Heblikar, environmentalist said population, industrialisation, consumerism, and the search for affluence were fuelling global environmental destruction. The Sevaks pledged to create a clean and green world. A candlelight march marked the culmination of the 10-hour event. This annual event of SEVAK is celebrated in Salem, Ghati, Kaiwara, Visakhapatnam and the U.S. |
